At The Purple House Salon, we focus on the way you live and what you need to make your life easier. We'll work to create a style and provide you with as many flexable options as possible. Our goal as stylists is to give you a look that compliments your features and lifestyle, from busy work days, family events, an evening out with friends, and everything that happens in between.
Shawn Gilstad was born in the mountains of East Tennessee. Shawn grew up one of seven children and was raised by a loving mother and grandmother. He is a graduate of Chattanooga State Community College. Shawn moved to South West Florida in 2009. Shortly after relocating, he opened his first business Hair by Shawn and Company. In 2012 Shawn formed a partnership with Sherrie Moody of the Charlotte Players and founded the Charlotte County Imagination Library--a children's literacy foundation that is an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. It currently has mailed over 100,000 books in Charlotte County. In 2019 he married his soulmate, Dr. Dennis J. Gilstad. That same year Denny and Shawn bought the historic Purple House in Punta Gorda. After a full renovation, he reopened the building as The Purple House Salon by Shawn Gilstad.
Carla is a native of Sarasota, Florida. She has been a licensed
stylist since 1998. Her goal is to please her clients
and to make them feel extra special. In 2004, she opened her own salon in Punta
Gorda called Cleo’s Shear Inspirations.
The salon was named after her grandmother who was also an entrepreneur.
Carla has been in salon management her whole career. Cost cutters, First Choice Hair
Cutters, and Hair Cuttery to name a few!
Carla is a multi-cultural stylist who specializes in texture services, coloring, and
cutting.
